Something new

Whew! What a week. I know I didn't do a Thirteen last week. Sorry. I'll fill you in as to why on this week's Thirteen so be sure to check back!

Anyhooo, most people who know me know that I love to cook and bake. I especially love to plan meals for the week. You can find me on my couch on a late Friday or Saturday night surrounded by my trusty cookbooks or the latest foodie magazine with pen and paper in hand (Yes, I know...exciting, isn't it?). I'll list the meals (mostly for my son because he always asks what's for dinner) and then make the shopping list.

However, I find that I don't really know what to cook on Saturday night. After cooking 4-5 days during the week I blank when it comes to Saturday. I think it's because for awhile there we would go out to eat on Saturday simply because we were out and about anyway. Now, though, we're trying to cut back on expenses and decided that we would only eat out once a week, no more than twice. That means I have to come up with another meal to cook.

With that said, I've decided to make a Filipino dish every Saturday night and come Monday, blog about it. Why Filipino? Well, for one...duh! I am a Filipina! Second, I'd like my kids to have it. I grew up with my parents and grandparents cooking those yummy dishes and I want my kids to be able to experience that as well. I'm already bummed that they can't speak Tagalog and may never understand any of it (I can't speak it but I can understand it). So, this is the least I can do.

But wait, there's more! I need YOUR help. I need you to help me title this new blog segment. So, please comment below with your ideas. Think about it....your title can be here every Monday for all to see ;-) Lol. Okay, maybe not all, but hey you can take pride in knowing that you helped me out. Every Monday I'll use the title and then put the name of the dish. For example:

"GOOD FOOD -Lumpia"

Send your ideas my way via the comment link under this post (you can even do so anonymously). Check back next Monday for the "winner".
